What is Brow Micropigmentation?

Micro-pigmentation Brow make-up, also known as semi-permanent make-up, is a semi-permanent method that uses colour pigment put onto the skin to create natural-looking brows. Natural feathering of hair-like strokes are used to create a wonderfully sculpted brow.

Eyebrow micropigmentation is performed with a rotating pen that has a tip with micro or nanoneedles. The colours used for brow infill are natural inorganic pigments that are implanted into the skin’s superficial layers. To begin, an eyebrow sketch is created using conventional make-up to determine the optimal shape and colour for your brows. Once you are completely happy, our technician will begin the treatment.

Is it the same as getting a tattoo? Both yes and no. Yes, it is a type of tattoo; however, the pigments are purely water based as opposed to the normal oil carrier-based pigments that are used with traditional tattoos. This results in a semi-permanent treatment that has long-lasting results. The work involved in micropigmentation brow makeup is solely done on the skin’s surface. Making this method far safer compared to conventional brow tattoos.

The colour shade may also be customised to match the original eyebrow hair colour, leading to a more genuine appearance. Micropigmentation eyebrow makeup provides the base and fills in the areas of the brows that appear unfilled, resulting in a complete and full appearance. This 3-dimensional effect adds authenticity to the final result.

Being Semi-permanent, it allows you to alter your mind in the future. Permanent tattoos, however, do not. In reality, permanent tattoos fade to a murky blue colour. As a result, going semi-permanent gives you the option of maintaining your current shape by just having a retouch or significantly reshaping your brows.

What are the benefits of Brow Micropigmentation?

  • It brings out your natural beauty.
  • It offers you amazing brows and allows you to be make-up-free.
  • You can maintain a flawless appearance all day.
  • If you lead a hectic lifestyle, you don’t have to devote much time to applying makeup and maintaining your brows on a daily basis.
  • The technique is simple and produces long-lasting results.
  • It gives you a well-presented and refined appearance, which elevates your confidence.
  • Unlike an eyebrow pencil, it does not smear.
  • Strengthens the form and definition of your eyebrows.

Choose between three different styles

You can choose between these three styles below. When you have your patch test or consultation we will discuss which Brow style you want to go for.

Powder Brows

Powder Brows

Powder Brows are becoming a more and more popular style.  They put tiny dots of colour on the skin’s epidermis. It gives the brow a “powder” or “made-up” appearance for clients who want a more “solid” look. Of course, the density of the colour is up to the client. This is an excellent treatment for people who can’t get microblading because they have sparse or thinning hair.

Ombre Brows

Ombre Brows

Ombre brows are made by placing additional pigmentation at the tail end of the brow and progressively decreasing the density of the colour as it moves towards the front end of the brow. Clients of all skin types may benefit from this unique transition from dark to light, which provides the brow with a trendy 3D style.

Combination Brows

Combination Brows

When you get Combination Brows, you get the powder brow technique mixed with the microblading technique. Full microblading is done with a hand tool, then a machine shades in with colour. For people who can have microblading want a more “defined” but natural look, this is the best way to go about it.

How long does Brow Micropigmentation Last?

Without additional touch-ups, the results of brow micropigmentation last between 12 to 24 months on average. That means, your brows will appear beautiful and the colour will be intense enough for up to two years.

The pigment will remain in the skin much longer, but your brows would no longer be defined if you don’t have any re-touch sessions.

Several circumstances might cause your micropigmentation brows to fade faster, and there are other situations where they can last longer than the standard 2-year estimate.

Is Brow Micropigmentation Painful?

Most beauticians promote this treatment as being relatively painless.

This is due to the fact that the treatment includes an anaesthetic cream to numb the skin. The numbing cream is placed on the brows before the needling begins, and the technician waits for it to take effect, which usually takes around 15-20 minutes. Depending on the formula, a single layer of numbing cream can last the whole duration of the treatment, or more numbing cream can be used if the effects wear off.

Aside from the numbing effect, and the fact that micropigmentation only penetrates the top dermis layer of the skin, this makes micropigmentation a fairly non-invasive and painless procedure.

Comparatively speaking, since everyone’s pain tolerance is unique, most clients comment that micropigmentation does not hurt.

Who is Brow Micropigmentation not suitable for?

Those prone to keloids or post-inflammatory hypopigmentation. We are unable to work with clients who have specific diseases.

If you have any skin conditions on your brows or around them. This includes eczema, shingles, rashes, and anything else along the brow area.

Diabetes. Depending on the type and severity, medical approval may be required.

If you suffer from any auto-immune conditions. We will need medical approval to carry out the treatment.

If you’ve already used Botox or other fillers in that area.

For patients undergoing chemotherapy, we would require a doctor’s note to perform the therapy.

Medicines that thin the blood. Speak with us first to discuss your choices. We may simply recommend an alternate technique to have the same startling effect, depending on the blood-thinning medicine and how frequently it is administered.

Those with excessively oily skin are usually not good candidates for micropigmentation.

Those who already have a dark brow tattoo or permanent makeup. We need the tattoo or permanent makeup to be light enough so that we can create hair strokes on the brow. We ask that anybody who has previously undergone an eyebrow tattoo send us a photo of their brows without makeup. We can then decide the best course of action.

Those who are sensitive to numbing drugs or alcohol. If you anticipate an allergy to our ink, numbing cream, or alcohol, you may potentially experience an adverse response to the therapy.

You must be at least 18 years old! Even with adult consent, micropigmentation is not permissible for anyone who is a juvenile.

If you have any questions concerning anything we haven’t covered here, please don’t hesitate to contact us. Even if micropigmentation isn’t for you, we can always recommend and give alternative procedures to make your brows look great.

Just had my brows done my Kirsty and she was fabulous. They look amazing, everyone thinks they’re great. As others have said she’s really professional, explains the process well, goes through the colours really clearly and checked I was OK all the way through. I’m so happy!

I would highly recommend Kirsty, she was very professional throughout the appointment and I felt confident that she would do a great job from the start. She involves you in the colour choosing process by putting some different options on your skin so you can see exactly how the colour suits your hair/skin tone then once she has drawn on the shape she will check if there are any changes you want to make and only once you’re completely happy will she proceed. Will definitely go back for all future top ups. Loving my new brows, thanks again Kirsty!
